Day 1: Kigali – Volcanoes National Park (Scenic drive, optional cultural visit)
Day 2: Volcanoes NP – Gorilla Trekking – Kigali (Morning trek, return to Kigali)
Day 1: Kigali to Volcanoes National Park
- Meet & greet at Kigali International Airport or your Kigali hotel
- Scenic 2–3-hour drive through Rwanda’s rolling hills to Musanze (formerly Ruhengeri)
- Optional stop at the Kigali Genocide Memorial (time permitting)
- Optional visit to Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village for traditional dance and local crafts
- Check in at your eco-luxury lodge overlooking the volcanoes
- Evening briefing on gorilla trekking guidelines and overnight stay
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Return to Kigali
- Early breakfast and transfer to Volcanoes NP headquarters for briefing (≈7:00 AM)
- Depart in small groups for the trek—forest trails can vary from 30 minutes to 3+ hours, depending on gorilla movement
- Spend one precious hour observing a habituated gorilla family, capturing photos and immersing in the experience
- Return on foot to park headquarters; enjoy a boxed or lodge-packed lunch
- Drive back to Kigali via scenic countryside route (≈2–3 hours)
- Drop-off at your Kigali hotel or Kigali International Airport
